![]() ![]() It is one of the largest venom producing centre in India. The bank also has a snake farm, where they extract venom and make anti-venom. As I clicked away not wanting to touch the little slippery baby, the father-daughter duo tried handling and holding the little reptile feeling its spiny skin, small but sharp enough to scratch pointy teeth and soft yellowed belly. She was excited and scared all at once, to hold the baby crocodile. ![]() When we visited the bank in 2007, my daughter was a mere 8 year-old. That however, does not mean that we should not be alert about the danger lurking somewhere when we visit a lake or river…a natural territory of these reptiles!! The fun part is that since the reptiles are in separate enclosures, visitors can have a close look at them without compromising on safety. The centre also encourages visitors to handle baby crocodiles and alligators to understand and emphasise on conservation of ecosystem. It is important that we should not see crocodiles in their natural habitat as threat, but as guardians of river ecosystem. Lot of visitors flock to the Crocodile Conservation Centre of the bank which is the largest breeding centre in India. Need cleaning of my teeth….Any Bird around? This project was founded way back in 1976 by a German biologist Romulus Whitaker. The “ Crocodile Bank“at Mahabalipuram is one such endeavour to conserve and sustain environment. The dwindling natural habitat of crocodile due to construction, farming, mining etc besides hunting for crocodile hide has affected the population of crocodile and alligators as well and world-wide measures to prevent extinction of this beast of animal are in practice in many countries like Australia, USA and South East Asian countries. Crocodiles and alligators keep the rivers clean by eating carcasses of other species and balance the habitat population. Predators have an influential role in an ecosystem and are known as ‘keystone species’ because they keep a check on increasing number of other smaller animals. Nature has its own system of balancing the ecosystem….if there is increase in number of any one species, the balance goes for a toss. I remember, how I was surprised to hear about crocodile breeding….such dangerous animal, I had thought, why would anybody want them to increase in number? But I was very much wrong obviously! While I marvelled at the ingenious idea of Bangalore based NGO in bringing attention of civil authorities towards the dangerous pot-holed roads, by filling the pot-holes with life-like crocodiles and more recently Anaconda, I remembered one such visit to Crocodile Bank near Mahabalipuram, some 40 km from Chennai, Tamilnadu. Just as certain memes became more grounded in material objects or experiences, influencers like Ava Louise were licking airplane toilet seats for clout. Things young people did for clout in mid-March were blown wildly out of proportion. ![]() Memeing items in short supply allowed people both to inject some humor into the situation as well as highlight the behaviors that were causing shortages in the first place. There were also toilet paper memes, brought about by the toilet paper shortages that followed mass stockpiling of resources in some communities. With hand sanitizer becoming a hot button topic as news emerged about people stockpiling thousands of bottles of it to re-sell even amidst national shortages, people put a classic meme format to use - celebs as things - and began to make memes of celebrities as hand sanitizers. Memes got more specific as coronavirus-induced panic-buying became a part of American culture in mid-March.Īt this point, things had begun to escalate in the United States: on March 18, President Trump invoked the Defense Production Act in order to leverage the private sector in response to the pandemic, and on March 19, California Governor Gavin Newsom instituted a statewide stay-at-home order. Kukuh Adi March 7, 2020Įarly March was also when " Ghen Cô Vy", a retooled, coronavirus-specific version of Vietnamese pop song " Ghen," spun into a TikTok dance challenge encouraging people to wash their hands and avoid touching their face. People fit familiar song lyrics (or literary passages) over a hand-washing infographic, with many using a website built by a teenager from the UK. ![]() Hand-washing in and of itself became a meme, particularly the recommendation to wash for 20 seconds or more. As the situation in the United States began to worsen, the CDC also recommended that Americans frequently wash their hands for 20 seconds or more in order to rinse away germs. Experts had already been pushing hand-washing as one of the most effective measures in curtailing the spread of the virus. These early weeks of March were largely characterized by memes of things like hand-washing. There were also musically focused memes in early March, highlighting handwashing or prevention techniques. Trends moved from joking about the virus and memeing in-demand items to sharing personal experiences and ramifications from the virus itself, becoming less specific and more absurd as the pandemic became the biggest part of daily life. The novel coronavirus is no longer culturally novel, and that's reflected in the memes and trends that have emerged on platforms like Twitter and TikTok over the course of 2020. At the same time, President Trump is supporting Americans who have taken to the streets to call for the economy to reopen, seemingly encouraging some of them to "liberate" their states. At this point in the United States, 45 out of 50 states have issued at least a partial stay-at-home order and quarantine has become a part of our daily life. While early memes about the virus were initially rather lighthearted and focused on specific hot button topics like hand sanitizer, the discourse has shifted. Over the course of January, February, and especially March, online chatter and memeing of the pandemic has shifted radically. People across the globe have been sharing their experiences and sentiments through memes on Twitter, TikTok, and other platforms. It often indicates a user profile.Īs the novel coronavirus has dominated hard news and government over the course of 2020, it has also dominated the meme cycle. ![]() This model is even 1 ounce heavier than the previous version (I misspoke in the video I was thinking of the 7-inch Fire). At 13 ounces it’s about 20%-25% heavier than other 8-inch tablets like the iPad Mini and Galaxy Tabs. The main downside is it’s fairly heavy for a tablet its size. ![]() The back has kind of a cheap plastic feel to it but the Fire HD 8 is a very solid-feeling tablet that seems like it could handle a drop without much of a problem. It’s not great by any means, but it’s good enough overall to be useful and functional. It’s hard to complain about the amount of features it offers when similar tablets sell for 2 to 5 times as much. Overall the $79 Fire HD 8 is a solid tablet for the price. I still like using 10-inch tablets better but if my Lenovo Tab 2 10 died I could get along with using the Fire HD 8 as my main tablet for awhile. ![]() The nicer screen and added speed help make it quite a bit more enjoyable to use than the $49 Fire.

Waking up in a surreal world acting under the mind-boggling laws of dream logic, the player must find a way to return to the real world through an assortment of puzzle-focused chambers. ![]() To those unfamiliar with the title, Superliminalhas a simple premise. RELATED: 10 Puzzle Games That Are Impossible To Beat Without A Guide Much like the aforementioned Portal, it might only have one mechanic behind it, but the sheer uniqueness of that gimmick is so well utilized and explored throughout its brief campaign that it never wears out its welcome. So, for those finally getting the chance to dive into the perspective-shifting puzzle game now its graced the pages of Steam , is it worth it? Acting almost like a blend of the structure of Valve's excellent Portal games and the mind-bending world of Galactic Cafe's The Stanley Parable, Superliminal is without question a very competent puzzle game. A new platform always brings with it new faces, and with Superliminal generally being viewed as something of an underrated gem by its fans, it seems the port to Valve's seminal PC storefront will be yet another opportunity for a fresh batch of players to experience Pillow Castle's work. The poster text reads (format has been altered):įeeling Lucky? So are we.First launching on The Epic Games Store back in November 2019 before hitting consoles earlier this year, surreal indie puzzler Superliminal has finally made its way to Steam. More dice appear all throughout the game from the second level and onward, though they are all plain white with black pips.Ĭolliculus (referred to in the poster text, see following paragraph) is a section of the midbrain used to process visual and auditory information. In the hidden hallway in Optical, a die closely resembling the dice featured on the poster (the only difference being the pips shaped as apples, not circles) can be found in a trash can. The center image is of three falling dice, all red with white pips. 'Feeling Lucky?' is the heading of this poster. Proceed down the maintenance hallway and enter the elevator to end this level.Upon reaching the fall's bottom, the player will be teleported to a red room and emerge from within a dice. This will reveal a long shaft inside the dice. Grab the closest side of the dice to disconnect it from the others. Descend the staircase of the red room, towards the large dice.Enlarge a cube piece to reach the raised platform. Upon being dropped, the dice will explode into smaller cubes. Turn right in the blue hallway and grab the large dice.Use any side as a ramp to reach the raised platform. Interacting with either dice will make it's sides disconnect from each other.Continue through the room with the tall tower of pallets and into the red room with the two dice.Pull it as far across as possible then use this as a step to reach the raised platform. Now the dice furthest to the left can be pulled horizontally without obstruction. In the room with the push/pull dice, pull down the dice second to the left until it is recessed completely into the floor.Ascend either staircase of the red room and turn right, to the exit.Continue down the blue hallway and into the next room. Use the two warped dice to reach the raised platform. ![]()
